The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers objected to a Latin reference to “God” on the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) logo.
“Nobody talks so constantly about God as those who insist that there is no God.”—Heywood Broun
To appease the atheist group, RCO cut the words “God’s Work” and replaced them with the word “Miracles” so the logo now reads, “Doing Miracles with Other People’s Money.”
“[T]he Air Force is saying with this move – that the word ‘God’ – whether it has any reference to faith or not, can’t be used in the Air Force. The RCO’s action to modify the logo sets a dangerous precedent that all references to God, regardless of context, must be removed from the military.”—Rep. Randy Forbes, (R-VA)
Forbes and 35 bi-partisan lawmakers sent a letter to Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz expressing their concern over the decision to remove the words “God’s Work” from the RCO logo.
“To sustain the belief that there is no God, atheism has to demonstrate infinite knowledge, which is tantamount to saying, ‘I have infinite knowledge that there is no being in existence with infinite knowledge.'”—Ravi Zacharias
