A sad truth about so many people who claim to be Christians today is that they have very little knowledge of the Scriptures and know even less about the history of Christianity.

Unless a person does some serious research, he or she simply perpetuates the errors that he or she has been taught by people who think they are teaching the truth.

The tragic irony of the spiritually blind leading the spiritually blind is that both parties are blind to their spiritual blindness.

Peace.

God’s written word must be diligently studied and rightly understood.

We know nothing about the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Gospel of Grace through faith alone except for what’s written in Scripture.

Believing what God has revealed in His written word is all important for Christians, yet many today say they don’t believe in Hell and eternal punishment.

Christians don’t believe what the Scriptures clearly teach because the vast majority of the shepherds who feed them no longer preach the whole counsel of God.

Once Protestant preachers preached condemnation and damnation, but from today’s pulpits, the word Hell is enveloped in silence. Hell fire sermons have slowly disappeared from the visible Christian church.

The doctrine of hell has become a side issue and regulated to a place of unimportance. Condemnation, damnation, and Hell fire have been set aside for sermons on God’s unconditional love and the love of Christ.

The doctrine of hell and ever lasting punishment makes people uncomfortable, yet no one spoke more on the torment of Hell and the final judgment than Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus spoke more about Hell than He did Heaven.

In the story about Lazarus and the Rich Man, Jesus described Hell as a real place of eternal torment. The rich man in Hell could see (he seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom), could speak (he cried and said), could plead (Father Abraham, have mercy on me), could feel (dip the tip of his finger in water), could feel pain (I am tormented in this flame) could remember (Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime) and could pray (I pray thee).

The underlying message of the story is that it’s better for a person to die poor and go to Heaven than to die rich and go to Hell.

Jesus taught that Hell should be avoided at all costs. “And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”

The Scripture describes Hell as unquenchable fire, eternal fire, a lake of fire, a furnace of fire, and a place of outer darkness and torment where there’s wailing, weeping and gnashing of teeth and the worm dies not. Jesus said it’s a real place of eternal, conscious punishment.

People believe that a loving God would never punish people in eternal torment. But unbelief doesn’t change reality. It doesn’t matter how many people believe something; their unbelief does not negate that Hell is a place of future punishment and the final destination for unbelievers according to the Scripture.

Peace.

Admirers of cult heroes seldom know the real life story of their hero, and the real life story of the communist revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara is not well known by his admirers.

What Communism Really Looks Like

Che has become a symbol for anti-establishment rebellion against the abuse of power. The truth is the real Guevara was a mass-murderer with little to no regard for human life. He was personally responsible for taking countless lives often without sufficient or just reason.

To Guevara death was a necessity for revolution. His orders consisted of five words: “If in doubt, kill him.” Suspicion was all that was needed to end a human life.

In a speech at the Sierra Maestra, Guevara admitted, “We executed many people by firing squad without knowing if they were guilty. At times, the Revolution cannot stop to conduct much investigation; it has the obligation to triumph.”

Guevara interrogated a 17-year-old boy who was a soldier in Batista’s army. The boy begged Guevara not to kill him.

“I haven’t killed anyone. I just arrived here. My mother is a widow, and I am an only child. I joined the Army for the salary, to send it to her monthly. Don’t kill me, don’t kill me,” the boy pleaded.

Guevara responded with, “Why not?” then tied him down next a newly dug grave and shot him in the head.

Those T-shirts bearing Guevara’s likeness should have inscribed above Che’s image: “I wear a Che T-shirt, and I don’t know why.”

Islam is the rod of the Lord our God’s wrath. If the Pope is not overcome, it’s not unreasonable to fear that Islam will not be overcome either.

The fight against the papacy and Islam must begin with repentance. Protestant thinking must be reformed, or the fight is over before it begins.

Protestants must be taught Reformation history to know what Protestantism is, what it’s become, and where it’s headed.

Protestant pastors should drive their flocks to repentance by showing them their great and numerous sins and marble-hearted ingratitude.

Protestants have earned God’s wrath and disfavor; therefore, He is more than justified in putting them into the hands of the Pope and Islam.

“This day, I trust, the reign of political protestantism will commence.”—Samuel Adams, upon signing the Declaration of Independence

Roman Catholics insist that they don’t worship Mary. To skirt the change of idolatry, Church apologists point to the three types of worship in Roman Catholicism: latria, the worship of God; dulia, the worship of saints and angels; and hyperdulia, a higher level of dulia worship reserved for Mary alone.

The worship types are artificial constructs because they don’t actually define the differences among the three types worship except to say that one is for God, one is for saints and angels, and one is for Mary alone. The ill-defined worship types are distinctions without a difference, yet Roman Catholics blindly embrace the terms without question or serious reflection.

Roman Catholicism admittedly worships angels and people; and if that’s not bad enough, its hyper worship of the Virgin Mary crosses the line to goddess worship.

Mary on the cross with Christ
 Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome

Here is a Marian Year Prayer given by Pius XII in 1954:

“Enraptured by the splendor of your heavenly beauty and impelled by the anxieties of the world, we cast ourselves into your arms, O Immaculate Mother of Jesus and our Mother.

Mary, we adore and praise the peerless richness of the sublime gifts with which God has filled you above every other mere creature from the moment of conception until the day on which, after your assumption into Heaven, He crowned you Queen of the Universe.

O crystal fountain of faith, bathe our hearts with your heavenly perfume!

O Conqueress of evil and death, inspire in us a deep horror of sin, which makes the soul detestable to God and a slave of hell!

O well-beloved of God, hear the ardent cries which rise up from every heart in this year dedicated to you.  Then tenderly, O Mary, cover our aching wound.

Convert the wicked, dry the tears of the afflicted and the oppressed, comfort the poor and humble, quench hatred, sweeten harshness, safeguard the flower of purity, protect the holy Church.

In your name, resounding harmoniously in heaven, may they recognize that all are brothers, and that the nations are members of one family.

Receive, O sweet Mother, our humble supplications, and above all obtain for us on that day, happy with you, that we may repeat before your throne that hymn which is sung today around your altars.

You are all-beautiful, O Mary! You are glory, O Mary.  You are the joy, you are the honor of our people!”

Millions of Roman Catholics worldwide pray to Mary for protection, comfort, hope, and salvation. They kiss her image, her picture, and her statue.

Roman Catholics are taught to love and adore Mary because all graces pass through her and that she is their hope of salvation. Mary withholds divine justice, intercedes of behalf of sinners, and convinces God to accept them.

In his sermon “Exposing the Idolatry of Mary Worship: An Overview,” John McArthur lists some prayers and quotes taken from the “Glories of Mary” by Saint Alphonsus Liguori, an 18th century Doctor of the Roman Catholic Church. First the prayers:

“Behold, O Mother of God, at thy feet a miserable sinner, a slave of hell who has recoursed to thee and trusts in thee. I do not deserve that thou shouldest even look at me, but I know that thou, having seen thy son die for the salvation of sinners, hast the greatest desire to help them. I hear all call thee the Refuge of Sinners, the Hope of those who are in despair and the Help of the abandoned. Thou art then my refuge, my hope and my help. Thou hast to save me by thy intercession.”

“O sovereign Lady, saint of all saints, our strength and our refuge. God, as it were of this world, Glory of Heaven, accept those who love thee.”

“We have confidence, but in thee O most faithful Virgin. O great Mediatress of peace between men and God, the love of all men and of God to whom the honor and benediction with the Father and the Holy Ghost. Amen.”

“Mary, Blessed Virgin, Immaculate Queen, I dedicate my family forever to thy service. I appoint thee ruler of my whole house. Bless us, defend us, provide for us, counsel us, comfort us, assist us in our infirmities, especially in the sorrows of death. Granted, we may go to heaven.”

Now for some quotes:

“As Queen, she possesses by right the whole kingdom of her son.”

“There are just as many creatures serving Mary as there are serving God.”

“All things in heaven and earth are under God’s dominion so that they are, at the same time, under Mary’s dominion. She has dominion and power over all creation.”

“Every prayer of Mary’s is like an established law for our Lord.  She establishes the law by which God acts.”

“Every prayer of Mary’s is like an established law for our Lord obliging him to be merciful to everyone for whom she intercedes.”

“Mary throws open the door of God’s mercies to anyone she pleases, when she pleases, as she pleases.”

“Nothing resists her power for God the Father looks upon her glory as if it were His own and God the Son, taking delight in glorifying her, grants her every perfection as if he were paying a debt.”

“The son is under great obligation to her to pay what he owes to Mary, listens to her requests and grants them.”

“Mary is the Mother of our souls. Mary is our spiritual Mother. She is sovereign. She sets the heavenly law. She operates with glory equal to God. God and Jesus do what she tells them to do. She is the source of spiritual life. She gives life to our souls. She gives birth to our souls.”

“All you who hunger for the Kingdom of God, honor the blessed Virgin Mary and you will find life and eternal salvation.”

“Mary is the arc which saves from eternal destruction anyone who takes shelter in it. Under the shelter of Mary, sinners are saved.”

“If Mary ignores or condemns anyone, that person is inevitably lost.”

According to McArthur, Roman Catholicism’s veneration of Mary is “Just as idolatrous as the ancient worship of the Semitic goddess Astarte, known as Ishtar, originally, among the Babylonians. … It is no less offensive to God than the worship King Manasseh gave to the Tyrian goddess Asherah.”

It’s clear from history that the Roman Catholic Church has imported pagan goddess worship into Christianity, which steals glory from God the Father, from God the Son, and from God the Holy Spirit.

To Roman Catholics Mary is the Mother of Mercy, the All Holy One, the Sovereign One, the source of salvation, the source of all graces, the comforter, the sympathizer, and the savior of the world.” Her qualities, powers, and attributes are God’s qualities, powers, and attributes.

Mary is given equal power with God, sovereignty over who is saved, and even sovereignty over God. God and Jesus are obligated to do what she says as if paying a debt.

If Mary is not a goddess in Roman Catholicism, what is she for only a goddess has the attributes, qualities, and powers of Rome’s Mary?

Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows. Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt … Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them. The following question was posted above the photo below on Gab’s Christian group’s timeline: As a Christian, what do you think of Alan Turing, widely regarded as the “Father of Theoretical Computer Science and AI” who was a British mathematician who was in the team which broke the Enigma cipher of the Nazis during WWII; but who was punished by the law for being a homosexual, after which he died allegedly by suicide?

The question isn’t really about Turing as much as it’s about his being punished for being a homosexual and his subsequent suicide.

The enablers and advocates of homosexuality are tugging at heart-strings for Christians to decry the hateful, unjust law that punished such a gifted man and war hero for simply being homosexual. “Oh, the Humanity!”

And this is how I answered the question:

God destroyed Sodom with fire and brimstone from heaven chiefly because of homosexuality (Gen. 19:4-5, 24; II Peter 2:6-8; Jude 7).

Christ mentioned Sodom and not the other cities, not only because it went beyond them all in brutality and cruelty, but also because God destroyed Sodom in an extraordinary manner so that it would serve as an example to all ages, and its very name would be associated with gross immorality, utter depravity, and deep-seated wickedness.

Homosexuality isn’t a sin like lying, cheating, or murder. Homosexuals act on sexual urges that are foreign to the human condition. Heterosexual urges are perverted by the sin nature, but these urges are natural and stem from a desire to reproduce. Conversely, a sexual urge for an animal or someone of the same sex does not come from the sin nature. It’s an unnatural urge from a wicked spirit to gratify an unnatural sexual desire.

Homosexuality is an unnatural sinful sex act, whereas heterosexuality is not an unnatural sex act, and it isn’t considered sinful when it’s in the confines of marriage. Conversely, a homosexual sex act is always unnatural and sinful even when it’s committed in a “monogamous” same-sex relationship or in the confines of a same-sex “marriage.”

People are born with a sin nature, but they aren’t born possessed or oppressed by wicked spirits. Spiritual possession or oppression happens after people are born, not before.

Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah all noted how open and brazen the Sodomites were with their sin. They did not hide their sin and were unbending and determined to proceed in their sin, which is why God issued His severest condemnation and judgment every time the sin of the Sodomites is mentioned in Scripture.

Peace.

The caption in the poster below reflects the unScriptural understanding many “Christians” today have concerning Jesus. Their Jesus feels the same way they do. He too is saddened and heartbroken by America’s wickedness and immorality.

When I read the caption in the “meme” above on the Christian group’s timeline on Gab, I wrote, “You might want to rethink this after you look up the definition of omnipresent.”

Ink Elf who posted the “meme” responded, “And you might want to hold off on commenting until you look up the definition of ‘meme'”

What follows is the back and forth that transpired between Ink Elf and me:

Jerry Kane @imkane

I have looked it up. But it doesn’t change the fact that you’re giving the wrong impression. And the implication is blasphemous, whether it’s a meme or not. Every idle word, my friend. Matthew 12:36. Peace.

Ink Elf @inkelf

Jerry, a meme “Expresses a thought or idea via a picture. A meme is an idea, often with the aim of conveying a particular phenomenon, theme, or meaning represented by the meme. It reaches multiple people that would not otherwise be reached through conventional methods” In short, people will see a meme and think about it. It will reach people that would never listen to ‘preaching’ but they’ll think about the meme’s message. There was a time when churches though guitars and drums had no place in a church service. “That’s worldly. Therefore it’s of the devil.” Stop being legalistic. If it makes even one person think, one person seek the truth, one person turn to God, then you can tell Jesus why YOU were opposed to it. For your next homework assignment, look up ‘Pharisee’ and see what Christ had to say about them.

Jerry Kane @imkane

Why not present the truth about the sovereign Lord Jesus rather than dress Him up as a heartbroken Santa figure uncertain and heartbroken pining over the loss of a corrupt nation? The hour’s too late for childish games, Elf. As for legalism, that’s a word you can add to omnipresent to enrich your vocabulary. BTW, keep your Newspeak crap definitions and your drums; they’re boring and useless much like your knowledge of God’s written word.

Ink Elf @inkelf

Jerry. there are none so blind as those who will not see. Look at all the CHRISTIANS that have liked the meme. Those who have reposted it. The whole point of it is that Christ is heartbroken over this country, that used to be “One nation under God.” And YOU are the only one opposed to it…because you can’t understand the whole POINT of a meme! But I guess you’re right. YOU are the only Christian that understands the scriptures. No one else knows what it means to “Take the gospel to all the world” If it’s not spread the way YOU approve of, then it’s wrong. If even ONE person seeks out Christ over this meme, then according to you, they’re not really saved. You’re exactly what Christ was talking about when he said, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.” ANYONE that opposes ANY method that reaches the LOST is a son of Satan posing as a child of God.

You’re muted.

For those unfamiliar with the Newspeak on social media, mute is a less severe form of block, and is much cooler to GenXers and Millennials, who block only in cases of emotional overload or meltdown. A block shuts down all communication between both parties.

In the case of Ink Elf, his/her mute basically blocks my comments/responses from appearing on posts and responses Ink Elf writes, but Ink Elf’s comments will appear on posts and responses that I write.

In other words, Ink Elf can post and comment without fear of seeing my rebuttals. It’s like saying, I don’t want my thinking challenged; I only want to challenge your thinking. So Ink Elf can respond to what I write, but I can’t respond to what Ink Elf writes.

Now, tell me again why you think there’s hope for the future of this nation?
