“It’s important to realize that if society meekly submits to an expert and that expert is wrong, a great deal of harm may occur when we allow … [the policy of one man or the policy of a small group of men and women] … to be foisted on an entire nation. … We shouldn’t presume that a group of experts somehow knows what’s best for everyone. Hayek had it right. Only decentralized power and decision-making based on millions of individualized situations can arrive at what risks and behaviors each individual should choose. That’s what America was founded on, not a herd with a couple of people in Washington all telling us what to do and we like sheep blindly follow.” Rand Paul, Senate hearing on COVID-19 pandemic
Americans should be told that standard surgical and cloth masks offer no real protection from COVID-19. Even if they could provide some protection, which they can’t, they can be so easily contaminated when they’re not changed regularly that there’s no actual benefit in wearing them.

Warning 2 reads: This respirator [mask] does not protect against the risk of contracting disease or infection.
“If you use only proper studies, randomized controlled trials with verified outcomes, they all unambiguously say … that there is no statistical evidence of a benefit in terms of reducing risk of getting a viral respirator disease. They all say it. … It doesn’t matter if you sanitize surfaces. It doesn’t matter if you’re washing your hands and masks don’t work. … That’s what the [current] science tells us. … The reason is … we have known for a decade now that the transmission route for all these types of virulent respiratory diseases is very fine aerosol particles that are supported as part of the fluid air. With those kinds of particles they’re going to get through the sides of the masks. Even the tiny wrinkles you have in your skin and so there’s no way you can prevent these aerosol particles from either entering or coming out. So masks are not going to work under these circumstances.” Denis G. Rancourt, researcher Ontario Civil Liberties Association, former physics professor University of Ottawa
