House Republicans Threaten Government Shut Down if PP Is not Defunded

By Jerry A. Kane

The Republican-controlled Senate will go through the motions and conduct a sham vote tomorrow evening on a stand-alone bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

The sham legislation is designed to deceive low-information conservatives and knee-jerk pro-lifers into believing Senate Republicans actually want to defund PP. Had Senate Republicans really wanted to defund PP, they would have done it by including an amendment to the Highway Bill where the Republican majority in the Senate could have easily passed it with 50 votes. But Senate Majority Leader and chief Obama enabler Mitch McConnell opted instead to adopt Harry Reid’s underhanded “fill-the-tree” trick to stop Republican Senator Mike Lee from offering the amendment to defund PP.

And now the pseudo-conservative/pro-life McConnell is sending up this sham legislation which of course will be filibustered by Senate Democrats and resoundingly defeated because he won’t get the 60 votes he needs to pass it. Then he and the Republican Senators can stand boldly before the party faithful and say they tried to defund PP, but those abortion-loving Democrats filibustered the bill and kept it from happening.

No voice

McConnell and Senate Republican can get away with this con because they know “conservative” voices on Fox News such as Charles Krauthammer and George Will and “pro-life” voices on talk radio like Bill Bennett and Jay Sekulow will downplay or ignore McConnell’s trick with the Highway Bill and blame the filibuster for defeating Republican efforts to de-fund PP.

So now there’s a group of 18 House Republicans issuing idle threats to hold up any spending bill to fund the federal government that does not contain language to de-fund PP. This ploy, too is outright laughable.

“We must act to fully defund Planned Parenthood. Please know that we cannot and will not support any funding resolution — an appropriations bill, an omnibus package, a continuing resolution, or otherwise — that contains any funding for Planned Parenthood, including mandatory funding streams,” wrote the 18 Republicans in a letter to House leaders

As he has done before, House Speaker John “Tammy Faye” Boehner will seek out the necessary Democrat support to pass any future spending bills.

And when that happens, the gang of 18 will collectively sigh, “We tried!” to Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, et al. Then Levin will go back to hawking his book, while Hannity summarily ring his hands, and Michael Savage belly aches about the excessive grease in the stir fry at Two Wong’s Don’t Make-A-White.

Eighteen I get confused every day

Eighteen I just don’t know what to say

Eighteen I gotta get away

Do you ever wonder whether or not the smoke McConnell is trying to blow up you ass is carcinogenic?

Chaplain Won’t Use Jesus’ Name in House Prayers

By Jerry A. Kane

The Reverend Patrick J. Conroy, 60th Chaplain of the House of Representatives, is the second Catholic priest and the first Jesuit priest to hold that position.

So far this session, Conroy has given 44 prayers in the House, and has not mentioned the name of Jesus in those prayers, and what’s more, he says he won’t mention the name.

“I understand my responsibility is to offer prayers that all the members of the House can say ‘Amen’ to, which is the difference in my mind between a chaplain and a pastor. A pastor is responsible for his or her denomination and nurturing their shared faith. So if that’s Christian, you do pray in the name of Jesus. But if your congregation, so to speak, is inter-religious, I try to word it in such a way that everybody present can say, ‘Amen,’” Conroy said.

Conroy, who’s been serving as House chaplain since 2011, begins his prayers with either “eternal God” or “gracious God” and usually ends them with, “May all that is done this day be for your greater honor and glory.”

No surprises here. After all, the Catholic priest hails from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, an order which paid out the largest sex-abuse settlement of any order in the Roman State-Church, $166 million settlement to more than 400 claims of child sex abuse.

In 1986 before the molestation allegations became public, Conroy penned a letter to then-Seattle Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen stating a boy told him that he had been abused by a priest when he was 12 or 13 at a parish in Snohomish, Washington. When Hunthausen didn’t reply to his letter, Conroy sat on his hands and didn’t follow up on the abuse accusation.

The “Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests” (SNAP) opposed John Boehner’s nomination of Conroy as chaplain in 2011. SNAP said that Conroy knew of the abuse and failed to follow up on it.

Now that I think about it, a Jesuit prayer addressed to a generic god is actually more appropriate than one addressed to the God of the Bible and has a better chance in hell of being answered.

AMERICA CHOOSES DIRECTION

William E. Been

CURRENT SITUATION

On November 4, 2014, American voters will go to the polls and either choose to pursue a different direction or confirm the policies that have dominated during the Obama Administration. While this is an opportunity for those who believe that our country is going in the wrong direction, the same divisiveness within the right-of-center voters that existed prior to the 2012 disaster is still prevalent.

While books have been written citing the various causes for the 2012 GOP failure, the reality is that there were not enough right-of center voters that understood the need to seek a different direction. Various analyses show that 4-8 million GOP voters stayed home in addition to the Libertarian voters.

Effectively, these citizens chose another four years of Barack Obama and Democrat Party control of Washington. Accentuating this failure was the success the Democrat Party had in Congress where the GOP lost seats in the House and the Senate remained in the control of Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

Unfortunately, future demographics and polls of current voters strongly indicate that America is very close to being governed by a permanent Democrat Party majority. It is this belief that is prompting me to write this article with the hope that there are still enough Americans left who understand the dire consequences of the current transformational direction if allowed to continue without meaningful opposition.

My first article addressed how we got to where we are from a political perspective. My second article addressed the need to understand “How” current Obama Administration policies are creating multiple scandals while demeaning our Judeo-Christian heritage. My third article addressed the corruption of the Democrat Party that is leading the Progressive transformation of America.

This article will address what is perhaps the last opportunity to accomplish meaningful restoration of America in accordance with the Constitution and the intent of the Founding Fathers including the belief in a Higher Authority.

POLITICAL KNOWLEDGE

One of the most alarming elements that has become apparent is the lack of understanding of how the legislative branch of our government is constructed and how it is designed to operate. In the current situation, it still appears that a great percentage of the right-of-center voters do not understand the role of the Senate in terms of passing meaningful legislation.

There is a good reason why Barack Obama has never vetoed any of the legislative actions initiated by the House of Representatives. Not one piece of legislation that supports Republican principles has reached the president for a very simple reason–the Majority in the Senate belongs to the Democrats.

President Obama consistently blames congress to the point that he has declared that he is being forced to work around congress because of the obstructionist Republican House. Meanwhile, the Democrat Senate refuses to even debate House approved bills that fail the litmus test of Harry Reid and the Democrat majority.

The media sings in tune with Obama while conservative media personalities provide validation to the Democrat position by constantly and repetitively blaming John Boehner and the Republican House for not getting anything done.

The reality of the current capabilities of the United States congress is that no legislation will be passed, come out of committee, or be debated in the Senate unless it meets the agenda of Barack Obama and the National Progressive Democrat Party. As long as the Democrats have a simple majority in the Senate, the only impact the Republican House can have is to block Democrat legislation and to shut down the government through ill-conceived defunding efforts.

If readers know anyone who believes otherwise, then please educate them. (Also, recall that Boehner and the House gave the Senate a bill defunding Obamacare during the recent budget crisis and the Senate would not even allow it to come out of committee for debate, let alone a floor vote.)

RIGHT OF CENTER UNITY OR LACK THEREOF

Very simply, if the Republicans do not take the Senate and maintain the House, it will be strictly because the right-of-center voters did not go to the polls.

While a large contingent of right-of-center voters continue to play “the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats” game, some of us are appalled that we are not united in an attempt to elect Republicans in the upcoming elections to create a super majority in the Senate.

With a super majority in the Senate, the Republicans could pass any legislation without a single Democrat vote thereby forcing Barack Obama either to veto bills or throw the Constitution totally in the scrap heap while dictating through regulations and Executive Orders.

It is time to stop the RINO hunting and work to take back our country because the clock is ticking in the final minutes of the final hour in this writer’s opinion.

It will probably again be the case when we wake up after the next election that it will be evident that many right-of-center voters stayed home. Never have we had such corrupted national leadership as that residing in the Executive Branch under Barack Obama and we still refuse to unite behind the only political force that has even a remote chance of stopping and then repealing the damage done by the Progressive Democrats.

In many of my presentations given since the election of Barack Obama, the plea has been to unite behind the GOP candidates to stop the Progressive Democrat destruction of our country, its traditions, and its heritage. That this plea has fallen on deaf ears is clearly substantiated by calls for a 3rd Party, calls to support Libertarians, failure of 10-15% of Christians to even register to vote, and the constant negativism directed toward the GOP.

Another of the most aggravating and potentially damaging factors to achieving unity of purpose is the behavior of conservative opinion leaders who constantly chastise the GOP for not standing for anything.

While typing this paragraph, an email was received from the NRSC that expressed the GOP candidate’s objectives in five debates held recently—Replace Obamacare, Balance the Federal Budget, Secure Our Borders, Repeal Anti-Business Regulations, Energy Independence, and Fix Tax Code.

In addition, referencing the GOP Platform prepared in 2012, the objectives are stated clearly including Jobs Creation, Economic Growth, Business Tax Policy, Oppose Common Core, Oppose Agenda 21, and 62 pages more that encompass the scope of meaningful government.

It is time to put the many litmus tests being used to criticize and even destroy potential candidacies and unite behind the clearly stated principles and objectives that are extensively documented by the Republican Party. Failure to do so will only assure the final steps required to complete the Progressive Transformation of America.

We have awakened to the magnitude of the problem that we face, now let us awaken to recognize that the only pathway to stop and then reverse the Progressive Movement runs through the Republican Party.

On Friday’s Wilkow Majority radio show, Andrew Wilkow took off the gloves and unloaded on the Democrats and the Chris-Christie Republicans who are willing to work with them to further the leftist agenda.

This is the speech Wilkow said he would deliver had he been invited to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC, this past week.

Wilkow is right; the lines have been drawn. This primary season should be about turning each primary into a referendum on the Democrats and their fellow travelers in the GOP pushing the leftist agenda.

Any Republican willing to work with the Democrats needs to go.

This is revolution. Playing nice with the left is no longer acceptable. It’s time to rid the Republican Party of Congressman who won’t proclaim the principles of the US Constitution and fight the Democrats’ leftist agenda.
