In 1999, Senate Republicans pretended to go along with the impeachment trial of Bill “little head” Clinton; they were just going through the motions.

The truth is Senate Republicans turned their backs on the law and sabotaged the impeachment trial before it ever cleared the House of Representatives.

According to David Schippers, a Democrat and former mob prosecutor who served as chief investigative counsel for the Clinton impeachment, the Senate trial was a “flat-out rigged ball game.”

Republican senators, led by Trent Lott (R-Miss), kept the House managers from presenting all their evidence at the trial.

The outcome was decided before we ever went over to the Senate. Apparently, they had all agreed, one, the Republicans didn’t want to be bothered with this; two, the Democrats were going to vote not guilty. So it was a foregone conclusion,” Schippers said.

Senate Republicans were not concerned that Clinton had abused and intimidated Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, and Dolly Kyle Browning, or that he had lied, committed perjury, tampered with witnesses, and conspired to obstruct justice. All they wanted was to get the trial over with as fast as possible.
