Post-election polling shows that 51 percent of  U.S. Roman Catholics voted for Barack Obama in 2012, while about ninety percent of faculty and administrators from the nation’s top Catholic universities contributed to his 2012 presidential campaign.

The strong support for Obama from the country’s largest religious group and Catholic universities came even though the administration’s health care mandate forces Catholic hospitals and colleges to carry insurance that provides sterilizations, contraceptives, and abortifacients, which are explicitly forbidden under Catholic doctrine.
