Having just passed a law giving bugs, trees, and all living things in nature the same rights as humans, now Bolivia plans to table a draft United Nations treaty that will recognize “Mother Earth” as a living entity having the same rights as human beings.
The document will most likely mirror the South American country’s Law of the Rights of Mother Earth, which grants terra rights to life, water, clean air, freedom from pollution, and reparations for livelihoods affected by human activities.
Bolivia’s law also establishes a Ministry of Mother Earth and provides an ombudsman to hear nature’s complaints as channeled through activists, environmental groups, and the state.

General Motors is recalling 2,100 Chevrolet Cruzes to make sure that the steering wheel doesn’t break free from the steering column when it’s given a gentle tug or being turned.
At least one driver of the 2011 compact car reported the steering wheel separating from the column while driving. Somehow the driver managed to maneuver the car safely to the side of the road.
In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM reported that a wrong wheel had been put on the car, and the mistake was discovered later in the assembly process and the right wheel was put on, but it wasn’t attached properly.
General Motors reported testing other cars from the production run and found no similar problems. According to GM, this was an isolated incident.

John Galligan, the lawyer for Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the “Soldier of Allah” who shouted Allahu akbar while slaughtering 13 U.S. soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009, has revealed that the Ruler and his Bread and Circuses Administration have kept the Islamist from prosecution by withholding evidence in the Fort Hood attack.
On March 30, the outgoing commanding general at Fort Hood, Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, granted a request from Galligan to delay the trial until late April, but Hasan’s lawyer says he’s not to be blamed for all the delays.
“Delays are due to prosecution/White House refusal to disclose evidence. Blame them for the delays.”—John Galligan, responding to an email blaming him for delaying Hasan’s trial

During a “Stand Up for Women’s Health” rally sponsored by the National Organization for Women, NARAL and Planned Parenthood, New York Democrat Congresswoman Louise Slaughter said that the newly elected Republicans to the House of Representatives came to Congress “to kill women.”
“In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women.”
Slaughter went on to tell those in attendance at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., that Republican efforts to oppose taxpayer-funded abortions resemble those taken by Nazis.
“You are allowed to have an abortion if you have been raped or it’s a matter of incest. However, you have to keep a receipt. Did you know that? It’s sort of like an old German Nazi movie. Show me your papers!”

Regarding the flap about defunding Planned Parenthood and the prosepect of its “killing women”, I am more than a little confused. Recently minted President Obama said there is no federal funding for abortions in our health care reform plan. Then Rep. Joe Wilson, who has looked some things up, yells, “you lie!” at the lie. Wilson is roundly, soundly thrashed for indecorous slander.
Fast forward to now. Now not only is there federal funding for abortions through the conduit of grants to Planned Parenthood, but stopping those grants is tantamount to Republican murder of women. Hmmm…
Maybe Pres. Obama meant that abortions would be funded, but through grants to abortion providers and not through Obamacare. Hows stupid of us not to know that that’s what he meant! Now we’re happy again. Wait, supporters of the Hyde Amendment are not happy. Planned Parenthood and the radical women’s rights = abortions crowd, Obama stalwarts, are happy. Finally the only opponent of Illinois’s “Born Alive” law has stood up for the one true sacrament of modern feminism.
Let me try to understand Louise Slaughter logic. Withholding funding for abortions will kill women because— they will then kill themselves? They will take overdoses and jump off bridges rather than bear an unwanted child? Or will they operate on themselves with coathangers? Back alley abortionists don’t work cheap, and so they are an anachronistic argument, a throwback to when abortions were illegal, not merely unfunded by your tax dollars.
Has ANYONE in tthe mass media asked Ms. Slaughter how these killings would occur, and if so, how that would be the fault of people protecting taxpayers from funding something they don’t to fund? I have not heard any such questions being raised. Either the statement is accepted at face value, like a fact, or it is rejected as sillly with no analysis of what it implies and how it might be used as an indicator of the warped thinking that feminism has become .
