DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN SAYS VIOLENCE IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY TO PROTECT WORKERS’ RIGHTS

Progressive politicians and personalities have excoriated Republicans, conservatives, and tea party activists over the airwaves and on the Internet for using overheated rhetoric to incite violence, but they downplay or ignore the incendiary rhetoric of Democrats and union members.

Only last month Massachusetts Democrat congressman Michael Capuano climbed his lofty leftist perch to lecture the nation on the importance of civility and tolerance and call for higher standards of public discourse:

“There’s always some degree of tension in politics; everybody knows the last couple of years there’s been an intentional increase in the degree of heat in political discourse. . . . If nothing else good comes out of this, I’m hoping it causes people to reconsider how they deal with things.”—Michael Capuano, following last month’s shooting of Arizona Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

But in a Tuesday harangue delivered to a crowd of union members in Boston, Capuano said he was proud to be with people who understood that violence is sometimes necessary to protect workers’ rights.

“I’m proud to be here with people who understand that it’s more than just sending an email to get you going. Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary.”

The one side of Capuano’s bleeding heart blames the Tucson rampage on heated political rhetoric, and the other side praises union thugs for having the good judgment to bust heads and crack skulls when necessary.

Capuano’s ugliness is very telling. He believes that it’s acceptable for unions to use violence and spill blood in the streets to protect worker salaries, benefit packages, and collective-bargaining rights. ‘Nough said!
