Social conservative groups are incensed that Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn, the head of the National Republican Senatorial (Campaign) Committee, will be helping to raise money for the Log Cabin Republicans, a homosexual activist group.
“You’re talking about men having sex with men–that’s what you’re promoting when you go there. These people are for same-sex marriage. They’re fundamentally opposed to the core of the Republican Party on that one.”—Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association
Most recently, the Log Cabin Republicans was responsible for bringing a lawsuit to end the ban on homosexuals serving openly in the military and has worked with other groups to change the GOP platform from support of traditional marriage to support of same-sex “marriage.” Also in 2004, the group accepted money from leftist billionaire George Soros to run attack ads against President George W. Bush.
“How can a group that professes allegiance to the GOP at the same time be committed to using judicial activism to advance its radical social policies even at the risk of undermining the U.S. military and, as a result, national security?”—Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council
