Undercover investigators videotaped Baltimore’s ACORN operatives helping to set up a brothel. It was a sting!

Hannah Giles and I took advantage of ACORN’s regard for thug criminality by posing the most ridiculous criminal scenario we could think of and seeing if they would comply–which they did without hesitation….

James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles visited ACORN’s Baltimore office posing as a pimp and a prostitute seeking to set up a brothel in Baltimore.  They further stated that they intended to bring 13 underage girls illegally from El Salvador to work in the establishment.  The ACORN personnel found a way to make the money legit, by registering the business as “performing arts.”

The whole story will unfold on The Glenn Beck Program at 5PM EST tonight. Tune to FOXNews on cable television to enjoy the deconstruction of Obama’s pet advocacy group. As you watch, recall that Obama began his career as a lawyer for ACORN. From The Wall Street Journal — ACORN Outdoes Itself. ACORN helps set up a supposed brothel.

I thought I’d heard every possible charge about corruption at ACORN, a feisty, union-backed activist group that became infamous last year when it was investigated for voter registration fraud in 15 states. Just yesterday, 11 ACORN workers were accused by Florida prosecutors of falsifying information on some 900 voter registration forms.

But this morning brings a Fox News report that ACORN officials in Baltimore offered to help get a housing loan and falsify tax documents for a proposed house of prostitution that would employ underage girls from El Salvador. The episode was captured on tape by an undercover filmmaker, James O’Keefe, who wanted to see just how far ACORN would go….

In helping Mr. O’Keefe set up his supposed brothel, ACORN employees also invited him to attend an August conference the group was holding for prospective home-buyers. But it linked attendance to Mr. O’Keefe joining ACORN and paying $120 in annual dues: “We ask that you join ACORN.” The problem is that such a request is illegal, since the ACORN housing conferences are underwritten by federal government grants. ACORN has a political arm, so insisting that attendees at its housing conferences join the group and pay dues is a no-no.

It was precisely that kind of activity that got ACORN in trouble during the Clinton administration. The Inspector General of AmeriCorps, the government’s volunteer agency, accused the group of “using government resources to promote legislation.” ACORN was stripped of its federal grant as a result….

Dear readers, do you recall that Obama said we could judge him by the people he chooses to surround himself with?

Gays But Not guns

The Senate took further moves last night toward the expected confirmation of Harvard Law School professor Cass R. Sunstein to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. This is a key but little-known position that sets governmentwide standards for bureaucratic rule-making. The senators ought to slow down.

Mr. Sunstein persuaded Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Republican, to remove his hold on the nomination by assuring the senator, “I strongly believe that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to possess and use guns for purposes of both hunting and self-defense.” The nominee’s record shows how far afield he has wandered from those assurances.

In a videotape of a 2007 lecture at the University of Chicago, Mr. Sunstein makes statements that are breathtaking in their willful misreading of the U.S. Constitution and American history. Regarding the traditional understanding that gun ownership is an individual right, rather than a collective one tied to organized militias, he said the theory merely

“purports to be an effort to recover the original understanding, but it has much more in common with the gay rights movement in constitutional law than it does with Madisonianism. And the irony of it is that the gay rights movement has a quite insistent moral principle which, whether or not it’s entitled to ultimate acceptance, has a claim on our attention, given the arc of constitutional law over generations. The movement for a strong individual right under the Second Amendment can’t claim quite the pedigree that the gay rights claims do.” [emphasis mine]

That’s just weird. The idea of special constitutional protections for homosexuals came into vogue recently. Individual gun rights have been asserted since before this nation’s founding.

Claiming that the “pedigree” of “gay rights” is greater than that of individual gun rights exposes an innate hostility to the Second Amendment. The position also calls into question the honesty of Mr. Sunstein’s recent pronouncements to skeptical senators. [emphasis mine]

Obama Lied to Congress

During his speech last night, Obama flatly stated that illegal aliens would not be insured under his health care bill. From the floor, South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson called out, “Lie.”

Obama: “There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms… the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”

Wilson: “You lie.”

Obama: “It’s not true…”

Here’s the exchange:

At best, Obama was using a semantic ploy to mislead the audience. Illegal aliens will not all be in possession of a piece of paper titled Health Insurance Policy. But they will be assured of receiving care any time they need it at the taxpayers’ expense. If they go to any emergency room they will receive care — it’s the law.

And many will also get care under the provisions of the current health reform legislation, in direct contradiction to what Obama claimed. This is not just the opinion of a group opposed to the legislation. It is the finding of the Congressional Research Service (CRS). From the CRS report Treatment of Noncitizens in H.R. 3200 (PDF), August 25, 2009, under the heading Exchange:

H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens — whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently — participating in the Exchange.

So, as per this government report only two weeks old, whether intentionally or unintentionally, tonight Obama stood before Congress and lied to the members. Rep. Joe Wilson has read the bill. Barack Obama has not read the bill, and is relying on his handlers to tell him what to say.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle called upon Wilson to apologize, which he did. Many, including John McCain, seemed to think that Wilson was rude for calling out from the audience. Personally, I believe that Obama was rude for lying to Congress and to the American citizens who were watching and listening. And Obama was arrogant and disdainful for assuming that we are stupid enough to believe his lie.

ActBlue immediately created a fund-raising page for Joe Wilson’s 2010 Democratic challenger Rob Miller titled No More Name Calling. So far they have raised a grand total of $100 from three supporters. And Wikipedia had to disable editing of their article on Joe Wilson due to vandalism.

Which is more important — the veneer of manners or the gut of honesty? Have any of these pantywaists ever watched a session of the British parliament?

In any event, the future probably will favor Wilson. We understand that he has aspirations for higher office, and the governorship in his state may soon be vacant. In this timely moment, he has just become a national ideological hero. He gave voice to the frustrated silent majority, and they are ecstatic:

The shout heard round the world!!
The new battle cry of all TRUE AMERICANS: YOU LIE!!!!!
Joe has just been launched into superstardom.
I want to bear his rebel children!!!
I’m definitely adding him to my list of Great Americans!

Before the Obama speech, Joe Wilson had 2,800 followers on Twitter. Within an hour after his shout, he had more than 4,200 followers. From Twitter:

Republican Sell-Outs Assure Sunstein Nomination

Wednesday evening the Senate voted 63-35 (60 needed) to end the debate on the nomination of Cass Sunstein, the radical Harvard University law professor whom Brother O selected czar of the powerful White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).

Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, a Fox News analyst, places Sunstein on the far left of the Democrat Party, to the left of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsberg.

“We have never had anybody in a regulatory position with this kind of power that is this far to the left of the American people,” says Napolitano. “His potential damage is limitless.”

Sunstein’s nomination had been put on hold in the Senate since late April, but Senator John Cornyn (R–TX) decided to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and assure the radical’s nomination by lifting the hold.

Cornyn wasn’t the lone Party sell-out. Senate Republicans could have held up the Sunstein nomination but for the seven magnificent RINOs (Collins (R-ME); Snowe (R-ME); Bennett (R-UT); Hatch (R-UT); Gregg (R-NH); Lugar (R-IN); and Voinovich (R-OH)) who joined with all but three (Pryor (D-AR); Lincoln (D-AR); and Webb (D-VA)) of their “enlightened” statist brethren Democrats to guarantee Sunstein’s nomination before the Democrat controlled Senate.

The Senate is expected to have an up or down vote to rubber-stamp the nomination of the leftist radical tomorrow.
