The Rev in ‘08 … Jones in ‘09 …

By Silvio Canto, Jr.  |  Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at 11:38 am

…where does BO get these friends? How do you explain Van Jones serving as a “green jobs” advisor to Pres BO? How do you explain having this guy within 200 miles of any president?

We know this: No green jobs BUT lots of controversy surrounding Mr. Jones!

Like Rev Wright in ‘08, Jones is a video bonanza: PowerlineVan Jones, the One-Man You Tube Channel.

What nomination process did this guy go through? He didn’t because “czars” are not confirmed by the US Senate. I guess that the Founding Fathers were right after all. This is why the Constitution calls on the president to get his appointments confirmed by the US Senate!

Over the last few days, we’ve learned a lot about Van Jones. I agree with this: ‘Green Jobs’ Adviser’s Past Could Stir Trouble for White House at Critical Time.

jones-obamaMy question is the same: What is BO doing hanging around with people like Van Jones? According to news reports, Van Jones was one of those “headcases” promoting the idea that 9-11 was an internal job:

In the statement, Van Jones also apologized again for several inflammatory remarks he made prior to joining the Obama administration. It was his second apology in two days.

“In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration — some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition [9/11 statement] that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.”

Whether he agrees with the views expressed, Jones was a signatory on a 2004 statement calling on then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and others to launch an investigation into evidence that suggests “people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.

Once again, Pres BO will have to take time from his busy schedule to explain a relationship with a radical. How many more times can BO say that he was not familiar or did not hear what these radical friends were saying for years?

P.S. Like always, there is no one like Charles Krauthammer:

Background Reading for School Children

By Allan Erickson  |  Friday, September 4th, 2009 at 11:58 pm

Two worshipful biographies of Barack Obama were listed as background for students to read before his scheduled speech to schools.

“On the horizon, at the dawn of a new age, there appeared a man who would be the embodiment of King’s dream — a presidential candidate whose very being was a bridge that joined nations.  As celestial choirs started singing, his coming could not have had better timing for all of mankind.”

[From Barack, a children’s book, White House recommended reading for students prior to the President’ speech to them Sept. 8.]

Tuesday, the President will address the nation’s public school students urging them to take their education seriously.

Critics have organized boycotts claiming the White House is pushing leftist ideology and social change doctrine through public schools via the power of the executive branch.

It would be one thing for the President to hold a press conference as school commences to encourage students to do their best.

It is quite another thing for the President to direct the Secretary of Education to send letters and lesson plans directly to principals and teachers prior to the deliverance of an extended speech piped directly into classrooms across the country.   Teachers were also urged to have students read biographies about Obama prior to the speech, biographies that depict Mr. Obama as a messianic figure.

Sensing a growing personality cult promoting radicalism in schools, parents have rapidly organized resistance to the entire exercise, rightly perceiving the White House is trying to influence students to adopt the Obama socio-political point of view.

Others have pointed out that the President’s intentional circumvention of school district superintendents is a breach of protocol signaling the White House has no regard for parents, voters, local community sentiment or the school boards elected to represent those sentiments.

In view of Obama’s stated goal to establish a civilian security force as powerful and as well funded as the U.S. military, in view of his efforts to regulate guns and destroy the 2nd Amendment, in view of his obvious efforts to regulate journalism with the appointment of a diversity czar at the FCC, in view of his legislative efforts to regulate the internet in the event of “crisis,” and in view of his past activities in Chicago to radicalize public schools in association with terrorist Bill Ayers, is it any wonder parents are alarmed this President is elbowing his way into the classroom to solicit the support of students (future voters) in his grand quest to “remake America?”

The first book is titled – Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope.

Description from the Publisher’s Website:

Ever since Barack Obama was young, Hope has lived inside him. From the beaches of Hawaii to the streets of Chicago, from the jungles of Indonesia to the plains of Kenya, he has held on to Hope. Even as a boy, Barack knew he wasn’t quite like anybody else, but through his journeys he found the ability to listen to Hope and become what he was meant to be: a bridge to bring people together.

The second book is titled simply – Barack

Official description from the publisher:

This is a journey that began in many places.

It began in Kansas, home of Barack’s mother. It began in Africa, home of Barack’s father. It began in Hawaii one moonlit night, the night that Barack was born.

Sometimes it was a lonely journey. Sometimes it was an enchanted journey. But throughout this most unusual ride, this boy often wondered: Who am I? Where do I belong?

And the book begins:

“On the horizon, at the dawn of a new age, there appeared a man who would be the embodiment of King’s dream — a presidential candidate whose very being was a bridge that joined nations.

But before he could join nations, he had to find a spiritual home, and he did under Reverend Wright’s Leadership at Trinity.

There, swept up in the waves of their singing, with tears on his cheeks, he knew why he was there. He knew who he was and he knew where he belonged.

As celestial choirs started singing, his coming could not have had better timing for all of mankind.

He arrived here during a dark time in American history. All across America, people were losing their jobs, losing their houses, losing their sense of hope. Many people were tired of a war that had gone on too long. They were tired of fighting with their neighbors over politics. They were just tired.

Here was a man who spoke of ‘hope’ and ‘change,’ whose strong words lifted up the downhearted people and made them believe that the world was not beyond repair.”
