Officer threatens arrest over Joker poster
This 1:36 YouTube video of the town hall held by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., at South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia, shows a confrontation between a protester and a security officer with the Fairfax County Public Schools.
The protester is standing on school grounds carrying a sign with a picture of Brother O in Joker makeup and the words “Organizing for National Socialist Health Care – The Final Solution”
Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. confronted the protester singling out his sign as unacceptable because it “has got a picture on it.”
Cheeks forbade the protester to hold up the sign and warned him that he would be charged with trespassing and arrested if he didn’t comply. The protester didn’t understand how he could be with trespassing, so Cheeks replied, “I can charge you with whatever I want to charge you with.”
“This used to be America,” said the grieved protester.
“It ain’t no more, OK?” countered Cheeks.
It’s doubtful that a poster with a similar depiction of “W” would have elicited the storm trooper ire of Cheeks, and it’s reasonable to assume that his racial attachment to Brother O helped to override his common sense and overstep his authority, yet Cheeks did manage point out the promised change Brother O has brought to America. “It ain’t no more.”
