Pucker up Progressives and Kiss Our Grass Roots

Wednesday evening, August 19, Akron hosted the largest Ohio Tea Party to date. Republican state Senator Tim Grendell roused the crowd of more than 7,000 when he accused the government of trying to keep the people ignorant and apathetic.

But he brought down the house to roars of approval when he said, “I was not born in a socialist country, and I will not die in a socialist country, and neither will my children….I want my country back!

The grass roots movement against Leviathan is real. Beacon Journal reporter Linda Golz did a yeoman’s job in capturing the genuine energy and flavor of the event.

Lawyers Show 9/11 Organizers Photos of Covert CIA Officers

Three military defense attorneys representing Gitmo detainees charged with organizing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks showed their clients photographs of CIA covert officers and personnel.

The dullard shysters were using the photos to identify CIA officers and contractors involved in using harsh interrogation techniques on al-Qaeda suspects in facilities outside the United States.

The John Adams Project, which is part of an ACLU (All Communist Lawyers Union) group defending Gitmo detainees, is also being investigated by the Justice Department for  showing photographs and revealing the names and identities of covert operatives involved in CIA interrogation programs in prisons overseas.

Obama’s Chicago-Style Politics

By Nancy Matthis

There is increasing evidence that demonstrators hired by the Democrats are encouraged to practice intimidation and provoke violence. This is a two-pronged strategy:

  1. Those who oppose Obama’s socialism come from a demographic of good-mannered people, including many seniors, who have worked and saved and taken responsibility for themselves. In general, they are the sort who socially avoid confrontation and rude behavior. In counterpoint, the thugs being hired by the liberal front organizations to attend the meetings are from the lower economic levels of our society — generally young unemployed, uncultured, uneducated roughnecks who are looking for a handout and are accustomed to physical violence. The ordinary citizens, who largely comprise the opposition to Obama, might be intimidated into staying away from town hall meetings if the events become dangerous, allowing the Dems to create the illusion that there is not much sentiment against their Orwellian program.
  2. If the Dems are successful in creating violence at the town hall meetings, they will twist the facts to blame their opposition. They expect to get away with that, given the complicity of the mainstream media — who will not closely examine what happened or who will even misreport the facts to support the liberal agenda. The narrative is, “Why would somebody who favors the health care legislation cause trouble? If there are problems, they must by definition be caused by the opposition.”

Case 1.  We saw how things were going to be in an episode of voter intimidation outside a polling place in Philadelphia on November 4. Two members of the New Black Panther Party in military-style uniforms, one carrying a nightstick, blocked the entrance:

A couple of New Black Panthers – militia-attired, beret-wearing, jackbooted jackasses – one of them carrying a nightstick, stood in front of a polling place at 1212 Fairmount Ave. last November intimidating voters and blocking the entrance….

Before police and press arrived … the Black Panthers were much more menacing and did block the polling-place entrance. As he was being led away by police, the man with the baton, identified as King Samir Shabazz, shouted: “You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”….

Here’s video from that episode:

Case 2.  Black conservative Kenneth Gladney was attacked by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) members on the evening of August 6 at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s town hall in St. Louis. They were clearly identified as union thugs, wearing the purple logo tee-shirt of the SEIU. The victim required hospital care. One of the assailants was arrested. Watch video of the attack:

Case 3.  An eyewitness account of a town hall held by Barack Obama in the tiny town of Belgrade, Montana on August 14 reports deliberate provocation by SEIU thugs who were bussed in from other places to attend the meeting:

The groups that wanted to protest Obama’s spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal)and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd. The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts….

Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful, even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive….

Case 4.  At a town hall meeting held by Congressman Tom Rooney in Stuart, Florida on the evening of August 18, an Obamacare activist spit on Red County Editor Everett Wilkinson:

….I then walked out to the front of the building where I saw the same group of people arguing with a guy. One young guy in a camouflage shirt with a thick British accent, aka Obamacare activist, kept pressing forward and shoving the older gentleman.

It was at this point that myself and another gentleman, John Fels, stepped in to break up a potential nasty fight. The Obamacare activist then tried to fight with us. An argument insued, with the Obamacare activist giving a speech for his camera guy. At that point John and I walked away. The Obama activist then became upset that we were not fighting with him – came up from behind me, spit on me and took off running. While being pursued by the sheriff deputies, the activist keyed a car. He was arrested shortly after that….

The plan for Obamacare activists (Moveon.org, DNC, HCAN, etc.) appears to be very simple:

  1. Build a team of 5 people.
  2. Have one with a video camera.
  3. Another person shouting at people to start a fight.
  4. The other team members clap and cheer on the “bait” (actual term they used).

About fifty years ago I was active in politics in Buffalo, New York, where the ethnic mix of first-generation Polish, Italian, and German immigrants made for some interesting election campaigns in the inner city. Most of my crowd viewed politics as carrying designating petitions, holding rallies, arranging speeches, fundraisers, and the like. But as one old guy told me, “Deez meatballss don’t know what politikss iz.” To him it meant a menu of intimidation techniques to squelch the opposition. Now that Chicago-style “community organizer” Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barry Sotero, aka Barry Dunham is in the White House, we are all finding out “what politikss iz.”

Fathima Rifqa Bary, 17 (Facebook photo)

Will Crist Save Fathima Rifqa Bary?

A Florida judge will decide today whether seventeen-year-old Fathima Rifqa Bary must return to her Muslim family in Ohio. The young girl fled to Florida to escape from her family for fear of being murdered in an “honor killing” or put away in an asylum in Sri Lanka.

The girl’s conversion to Christianity violates Islam’s apostasy law and besmirches her family’s honor. Her “parents are devout followers of Islam and members of the extreme Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Columbus, Ohio.”

Islamic scholar Robert Spencer writes that Islam’s death penalty for apostates is a universal principle deeply rooted in Islam. For example, Qur’an 4:89 directs Muslims to seize and slay those who have turned “renegade” to the Islamic faith wherever you find them. In Bukhari, vol. 9, bk. 84, no. 57, Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, commands “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.

Another example of dealing with apostates comes from the Shafi’i manual of Islamic law. The work teaches “when a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed. In such a case, it is obligatory for the caliph (A: or his representative) to ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o8.1-2).

Pamela Geller has extensively documented the young girl’s case at her Atlas Shrugs blog, and  Frank Gaffney and Chelsea Schilling have written articles documenting the girl’s plight.

As it stands, the judge in Orlando is expected to force the girl to return to Ohio, which means it’s up to Florida governor Charlie Crist to save the girl’s life. Til now, Crist has shown no interest in the matter. Geller, Gaffney, and Schilling are encouraging their readers to contact the governor’s office by phone (850) 488-7146, fax (850) 487-0801 or e-mail at Charlie.Crist@MyFlorida.com and urge him to intervene on the girl’s behalf.

Yes, Grandma, There is a Death Panel

By Jerry A. Kane

Brother O and the Democrat Party’s media propagandists and Internet lackeys are promoting disinformation and parroting half-truths concerning the Obamacare “death panel”—an overseers’ board of bureaucrats that determines the value of a person’s continued existence and whether treatment will be cost-effective.

Brother O and the New York Times accuse Republicans and conservatives of spreading “false rumors;” and AP Fact Check,Politifact.org and FactCheck.org reject “death panel” claims as “twisted,” “ridiculous,” “lies.”

Obfuscation is a hallmark of Democrat disinformation; therefore, when Brother O and his kindred spirits in the mainstream media and on the Internet insist with dogmatic certainty that the health care bill passed by the House does not include a literal provision to establish a “death panel,” they know they’re right; however, they’re right only in the limited sense of the health care bill itself.

If the “death panel” specter were raised above the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a.k.a., the Stimulus Bill, which was signed into law February 17, their dogmatic assertions would disappear. In other words, the panel of overseers does not appear in the healthcare bill because it was created in that monstrous $1.1 billion, portentous piece of porkulus spending that lawmakers passed without reading,

Had America’s lawmakers demanded the time necessary to read the Stimulus Bill, they could have uncovered the slipped-in healthcare provisions and the appropriations for the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research, known by the Sarah Palin catchphrase “death panel.”

The Council is the handiwork of Tom Daschle, who had been Brother O’s first choice to head the Health and Human Services Department. Daschle’s Council, which is modeled after a board in the United Kingdom and discussed in his book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis, would make the “tough” decisions regarding medical treatments and monitor doctors to make sure they are following government dictates for appropriate and cost-effective treatments. Doctors who are not “meaningful users” of Obamacare would be penalized. What defines a “meaningful user” is left to the private interpretation of the Health and Human Services secretary.

According to Daschle’s book, the Council’s goal is to reduce healthcare costs by slowing the advancement in medical technologies and the development of pharmaceuticals. Daschle lauds European systems for their willingness to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments.”

Daschle’s Council would approve or reject treatments based on a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is expected to benefit. Treatments for younger patients would be approved more often than those for the elderly; consequently, Daschle advises the elderly to be more like the Europeans who passively accept their conditions and don’t treat them.

Daschle’s prescient comment that Brother O’s health-care reform “will not be pain free” also serves as a dire warning regarding the medical ethics of the members appointed to the Council. One prominent member of the Council is Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, Special Advisor on Health Policy to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and brother of Raum Emanuel, White House Chief of Staff.

To suggest that Dr. Emanuel’s views on withholding healthcare from the elderly and disabled are alarming is an understatement. In a 1996 journal article, Emanuel explores whether medical services should be guaranteed to all Americans and provides an example of an approach that favors active people and “not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.”

In a January 2009 article, Emanuel looks at who should receive organs or vaccines and suggests that age could be considered as one of the factors. He writes, “Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination. Every person lives through different life stages.”

The vague language used to outline the healthcare provisions in the Stimulus Bill gives the Council the power to implement Emanuel’s “Complete Lives System” principles to reduce healthcare costs by simply refusing to pay for the services. Palin’s “death panel” catchphrase is a dead-on accurate description of Daschle’s monstrous creation. She was also right to label any system as evil that bases its medical decisions on the perceived societal worth of the person.

Without question, Brother O wants appointed bureaucrats to decide who does and does not get medical care. In legislation currently before Congress, he proposes an Independent Medicare Advisory Council (IMAC) that would have the power to deny care to the elderly and disabled based on the decisions of five bureaucrats appointed by the Executive Branch.

At the end of June, ABC ran Brother O’s healthcare infomercial, and a member of the audience asked him whether end-of-life decisions would be made by the quality of the patient’s life or by some arbitrary medical cut-off. Brother O responded:

“I don’t think that we can make judgments based on peoples’ spirit. That would be a pretty subjective decision to be making. I think we have to have rules…”

Based on the existence of the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research and the proposed creation of the Independent Medicare Advisory Council, it is obvious Brother O intends to appoint ruling bureaucrats to guide subjective decisions.

Palin entered the healthcare fracas once she realized what was about to happen to personal freedom in matters involving life and death decisions. She felt obligated by her oath to the Constitution and compelled by her humanity to sound the alarm so Americans would know what was happening. And for her warning, Americans who love liberty and cherish freedom owe her a debt of thanks.
