The progressive organization OneAmerica Votes is using illegal aliens to canvass immigrant-heavy neighborhoods and steer voters toward Democrat candidates in Washington. Illegal immigrants are canvassing the Seattle area for naturalized citizens who’ll vote for Democrat Senator Patty Murray, who is in a tight race with Republican Dino Rossi. OneAmerica Votes has endorsed the incumbent Democratic because she favors amnesty for illegal aliens and Rossi doesn’t.
The ACORN-lite group has been registering new voters and intends to contact 40,000 immigrants before the November election. The group had better tread lightly though because the consequences are dire for registering the wrong person.
“In the United States, only citizens are allowed to vote in national and statewide elections. And while immigrants who are granted permanent residency — a green card — enjoy an array of privileges, including the right to work, they can lose them all and be expelled from the country if the authorities discover that they have even registered to vote.”—Kirk Semple, The New York Times
The voter registration law is not widely known among immigrants, and some may think their green card allows them to vote. For such people, registering to vote is an illegal act punishable by deportation.
Democrats are desperate, and desperate times call for desperate measures, which makes Democrats dangerous. If Gloria Allred’s reckless stunt that exposed her own client as an illegal to smear Meg Whitman and help Jerry Brown in California is any indication of how far the Democrats will go, then it’s a given that they will sacrifice as many permanent-resident immigrants as needed to save Murray’s seat.
Have Democrats no shame; have they no conscience? Obviously, the questions are meant to be rhetorical.
