Three Republican congressmen claim that Brother O has secretly spent $23 million of taxpayer money to push a constitutional referendum in Kenya that would increase access to abortions and establish legal status for Islamic law tribunals.
“It constitutes U.S. monetary interference in a sovereign nation’s voting process. If passed the constitution would dramatically alter existing pro-life laws.”—Jeff Sagnip, spokesman Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ)
The referendum would water down Kenya’s existing abortion law and would also create an Islamic judicial structure within the Kenyan legal system to apply Shariah law for Muslims.
Anonymous sources say Brother O pledged additional millions in U.S. government aid and private investment capital to Kenya if the referendum passes.
